From the falls to Brazil Square
A South American restaurant that happens to sit on a square called Brazil. That is not a coincidence anyone can copy.
Iguazu is named after the waterfalls where Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay meet, one of the seven natural wonders of the world, and the place that made Eleanor Roosevelt look at it and say "poor Niagara".
The restaurant opened in 2021 on Brazil Square (Plateia Vrazilias) in Ilisia. The name came first and the address turned out to agree with it, which is the kind of luck you do not argue with.
The room
It is a full jungle set rather than a few plants and a mural: lush green inside and out, a two-level terrace with a hanging garden, and a courtyard that opens onto the square's park. The Athens press has called it the most eye-catching venue on the square and the hottest jungle in the city.

The gorilla
A giant gorilla watches over the main room. It is in the Instagram bio, it is the most photographed thing in the building, and it is the first thing that moves when this website loads. Nobody planned for it to become the mascot. It simply did, because every guest who walks in takes a photograph of it before they sit down. There are no gorillas in South America, and he knows it. He came with the jungle, liked the music, and stayed.
